A tag-team is still putting Malcolm at a severe disadvantage, just because they weren't literally attacking him at the same time doesn't mean teamwork wasn't at wouldn’t say he was totally unprepared, no more than Amaya was before (fighting Steel previously vs not previously engaged but not prepared to fight in the first place)

Their second fight on the other hand was clearly portrayed as a teamwork effort between Nate and Amaya. She was on a full assault so obviously she wasn't overwhelmed, Malcolm dodging everything and slipping through her defenses with low kicks is the definition of outskilling. Malcolm wasn't even attacking back, just dodging and parrying until she opened herself to snatch the necklace, then he was able to put her down with just one more low kick. He tagged her first with a low kick, but she immediately reacted and came back at him with a series of strikes. Malcolm even spoke to her before attacking. Amaya wasn't portrayed as being unprepared or overwhelmed in that first encounter. Steel’s involvement could explain Amaya initially getting ahold of Malcolm, but after that it’s not particularly relevantĬould just as easily argue that the first encounter wasn’t representative of a 1v1 due to Malcolm and Darhk essentially ambushing the teamĭon’t get me wrong, overall Malcolm>Amaya, but it’s not like she’s on the lowest possible level compared to him (and I don’t think Laurel would be either, after her training) Not like they worked together, just traded off.
